By mandaman74 1163451500 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis song is: Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) by Baz Luhrmann.
Top tip: You can find the title and performer of almost any song by Googling for a few of the lyrics surrounded by double quotes, followed by the word 'lyrics'.
It's by Baz Luhrman

By beanhead 1163470817 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBaz Luhrman - Everybody is free. Im sure, he was who created the original lirycs, but maybe someone else speaking in this song.
By Okasan 1192394638 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe lyrics are from an actual graduation speech written by Mary someone (sorry, I can't remember offhand!). Baz heard it, read it and made this track! From what I've heard. Amazing, isn't it! I can't hear it without crying.

By justbloem 1169110938 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeheres my trusty trick...google a line (any line) from a song you dont know the title to and the artist if you know who its by, and then put "lyrics". if the lyrics that come up match, then usually it gives the name of the song (and artist if you DIDNT know it).
By cuzitwasgood 1168933416 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei think it 's called 'lessons in/of life' or something in that order.
and remember : FLOSS
The song is called "Facth of life", and it's with a Dansih artist called lazy buy...

By alarm7005 1211586391 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe world would be an intolerable place to live if it followed these ideas. Far to many people understand the power of their youth and beauty... they use it harm others, break hearts, ascend to positions of power and authority they couldn't earn on their effort or merit and generally engage in all manner of bad behavior to obtain serve it.
By Uncle Dirt-Nap 1164043723 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei know what it is you are trying to say. but it seems there has been a misunderstanding. it says "enjoy the power and beauty of your youth" not "enjoy your the power of your beauty" its saying youth is beautiful, and it is. it has nothing to do with the way that you look.
By anyonebutyou 1165554488 Reply Spam [+7] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveC'mon... don't be so "fatalist" ... instead of complaining on how bad it would be if people abused the power of their youth, try to extract the good things it says and enjoy them!
By whateverpatyt 1164856158 Reply Spam [+5] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveA hero said once "The future is on the hand of the youth", this means the way youth will build the future depend on the guidance, decipline and action given by the elder.
By Lapu 1165983525 Reply Spam [+3] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLapu, is 100% right, The youth are guided and molded by the old, So if you want to point a finger at someone, look in a mirror. Teach to love not to hate, Teach respect, not disrespect, Tolerance, not intolerance so on and so on
By medic2 1166452071 Reply Spam [+3] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethe youth is the hope of the future how ever the parents or the elders are the hopes of the hope of the future!i hear it once when i am just a kid
By en2y 1210591634 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei cried when i saw this it was so touching. imagine a world where a zit didnt crush our world. where girls stopped sleeping around to be loved and instead found that loving urself is all u need to feel adequate. where a person with a mansion and 10 cars isnt bombarded with jealousy, because everyone else knows that those petty materialistic things don't make that person any happier or even a better person than u. oh i hope i get to see that day!!!!
By taste the rainbow 1168662238 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou are right, its sad that people use the gift of life youth and beauty to do bad. But what if people did think to use those gifts for bad but for good. There wouldnt be wars and death and heartach. But then again theres not point in talkin in what ifs right, we cant change the way people think and as long as humans are alive there will be good and bad. I enjoyed your comment and think you are pretty open minded and we need more people like you, someone who sees the truth.
take care my friend
they would learn to spell morals and use 2nd grade grammar on the word "whole"...
By bergen7 1167937328 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAnd it would be the best place... kinda.. not really... it would be boring...

By Wardo 1162766946 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf i could add one rule to live by it's to love God and everyone else as you love yourself, we're all in this together.
At the beginning, he says "class of 99...", anyone know who made this speech and at what school?
Wondering what significance the "class of '99" part holds, it was actually altered. Originally, it was written for the 1997 MIT graduation ceremony.
Here is how it actually starts...
[ Initially attributed as written by Kurt Vonnegut for the 1997 MIT graduation ceremony. ]
"Inside every adult lurks a graduation speaker dying to get out, some world-weary pundit eager to pontificate on life to young people who'd rather be Rollerblading. Most of us, alas, will never be invited to sow our words of wisdom among an audience of caps and gowns, but there's no reason we can't entertain ourselves by composing a Guide to Life for Graduates.
I encourage anyone over 26 to try this and thank you for indulging my attempt.
Ladies and gentlemen of the class of '97..."
I think some of the other users already have stated that this was written by Mary Schmich.
Originally published in the Chicago Tribune on Sunday, June 1, 1997.
This is an amazing and inspiring text.
I accidently said that it was written for the 1997 MIT graduation ceremony, but it is not true. It was initially attributed as written by Kurt Vonnegut for the 1997 MIT graduation ceremony, as I said before.
Stupid mistake...sorry x_x.
Thank you for posting the origin of this thoughtful speach, BlindingDefiance. In spite of that nickname of yours, I am inclined to trust your word. I am interested in translating this text for my French speaking fellowmen, do you happen to know the link of the Chicago Tribune article you were referring to?
I would be very grateful to you,
jaqs
Is supposed to be able to apply to anybody and everybody. STOP TRYING TO FORCE YOU'RE RELIGION WHERE IT IS NOT NEEDED. Don't get me wrong, I'm a confused Christian myself... I just wish people would stop trying to bring God into every single thing that he is blatantly not responsible for.
By The_Fuzz 1164299229 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou don't need categorize yourself into one religion or any to believe in God. I certainly don't. Even if none of the modern religions accurately portray the true God (any higher being or force); which is most likely, it doesn't mean God doesn't exist.
I didn't mean to offend, all I was saying is, "treat others as you'd like to be treated." I definitely believe in God but it's not like it matters if others don't. It's nice to exchange ideas and theories but there's no reason to get upset over this topic as so many people do.
But here's an opinion that might offend some but I don't care. The people who tell others they'll burn in hell or suffer in the afterlife if they don't join their religion. ROFL idiots. Also, those who preach hatred amongst other people. Yeah, that's brilliant, definitely sounds like something a greater being would want instead of misguided, ignorant people.
two very enthusiastic thumbs up man!!!

The song is by Baz Luhrman - Everybody's free (to wear sunscreen)
By AndyLUWM 1161794550 Reply Spam [+4] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYes, Baz was accredited for the music single, but a lesser known fact is that the essay 'Wear Sunscreen' (actually called "Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young") was written by Mary Schmich and was published as a column in a newspaper two years before the Aussie director released it as a single.
This video was done by DM9 DDM (big Brazilian advertising agency) and was intended for internal circulation to their clients, but soon became viral….
Brazilian media guys Rede Globo also made a video with their own footage.
Greetings Mad -
How did you get so knowledgeable about the genesis of this piece? I'm impressed.
Was this on the air (radio) about 5 yrs ago?
..........the poem.... not essay....
but i wouldnt have known that if i hadnt seen your comment and then googled it myself..... so thanks... lol

By kgkid 1163082405 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removejust along with every philosophy taught by every single religion, I hate to be the voice of doom, but saying is not doing, I respect people like the guy talking in the video, it is a shame it all goes to waste because people (even the people who applaud this post and say it is true) will just carry on living the same way. Tell me this is not true, just look at the world around you, these videos sadden me as they remind me of how messed up the human race has become
By Paul Hood 1162417297 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removetou are on of them, one of us, a normal 21st century person. We so utterly and absolutely believe in our unchanging everyday life that we cannot accept change, nor can we promote it. Inertia = stability is this equation true or false nowadays?
Though it is true that people that read this video are probably going to continue their lives as nothing happened, blocking the content of this video from their mind, and maybe they'll fell guilty for not living like they could. But there are people who just need a small nudge to wake up and start living like they ought to. I adored the content and the moral teachings this vid passes , just because it shows that people are in their own little world, unhappy and depressed, whilst they should be carefree and happy. Such a romantic view of life... But it sounds better to me.
Love to the world...
man... we were A LOT more messed up 100... 1000... 10,000,000 years ago.... geez.... we are in fact better than ever now... its just that thanks to media we are all aware of how bad the bad is... and for the same reason we are getting better and better.... so there is hope... but keep saying there isnt though so we can get better.... its when we admit things are good, that when it will go in reverse....
its like that pyscological thing... once you know its a problem it is no longer a problem because consciously on subconsciously you reaslise its a problem and are constantly working to fix it.....
So lets all worry about how bad it is still so there is further progression... but also take the time to enjoy the good things, eh!
Nice!
This is the best video ever.Everybody should rank this at maximum. This video made me cry and smile.I cried because i started to remember my familly,my childhood,my chilhood friends and places and Irealised that nothing will come back. But here's the reason i smiled:life is straight ahead and we still have enough time to do all the things we wanted and wished.Yes,we will get old,but try to not die alone. If in my moment of death I will be surounded by my friends and relatives,I will die smiling.
Thank you METACAFE!!!!!!
I felt the same. Very unique and awesome.
